Rayonta Whitfield's amateur career speaks for itself. Rayonta won multiple national championships and was a runner up for the 2004 United States Olympic Team. In 2003 Rayonta received USA Boxing's Michael Nunnally "Character Award" presented to boxer who makes a commitment to make a difference in and out of his home community. Rayonta has had a day recognized as "Rayonta Whitfield Day" in his honor in his hometown of Augusta, GA. Since turning professional Rayonta has been flawless and has begun to climb the world rankings. Rayonta has been featured on ESPN2 as he brought the major boxing network to his hometown of Augusta, GA on April 21, 2006.
